The Importance of a Morning Ritual to get into a Peak Mental State

Having a healthy morning ritual will dramatically change your life.

Morning Ritual

It will make you more productive,

Give you more free time,Give you the opportunity to work smarter not harder,

Keep you living longer,

And most importantly keep your mind happy and in a peak mental state for the rest of the day so that you can dominate whatever it is you need to do.

For most of my life, the alarm has gone off in the morning and I have wished I could get another 3 hours sleep.

Thankfully, I am lucky enough to be able to work for myself now so I try and wake up naturally.

Usually around 9 or 10am depending on how late I went to bed the previous night.

Although I love the freshness of the early morning, I think I am a natural born night owl where I get more of my work done in the quiet of the night. Sometimes you need to play to your strengths and this is what I feel works the best for me.

In this post I really want to highlight the importance of a morning ritual or routine to get you into your peak  mental state. If you are looking to get more from your day, or are looking to change your life in a more positive way and in a new direction, then getting a healthy, positive and regular morning routine will really set yourself up to be able to do this.

If you are familiar with any self help guru, in particular Tony Robbins, you may have heard about getting into your optimum mental state in order to get the best results from yourself and your day.

Everyone has good days, and bad days. Most of the time, we are not truly aware why some days are better than others. The key is to recognise what you did on the good days, and what you did the bad days, to find out how to get more good days.

A routine or ritual that you try and stick to on a regular basis is really going to help you in your business and personal life. I realise that it is sometimes hard to get these routines especially when you have a family or other commitments, but I want to highlight some of the things that have really helped me, and perhaps you could adopt for yourself.

Get enough Sleepget enough sleep

Hello Captain obvious!! Yes, we know that we need sleep – apparently around 8-9 hours is ideal. If you are fortunate to need less than this I salute you, but I need at least 8 hours to stay focused and sharp.

Because I don’t need to get up at a certain time like when i was working full time, I try and let me body dictate when I arise.

If you need to get up every morning at a certain time, make a focus to get to bed at a similar time each night to get those magical 8 hours.

Meditation is getting more popular in the mainstream all the time. And for good reason. It’s a way to get clarity and to train your mind to relax and to focus. Anyone can do this, anywhere, anytime, and it’s all for free.  meditate binaural beats

Just find a spot where you can sit or relax. Focus on only your breathing. If you start to think of something then just recognise that you are, don’t beat yourself up about it, and re focus on your breath.

Its not so much about “not thinking”, its about being aware that your mind is starting to wander and to bring it back to your breathing.  Meditation is just as much about training your mind to be aware than anything else.

Ideally you would want to try and get 30mins to an hour, but I realise this isn’t possible. If you can only do 5 or 10 minutes then this is ideal and betterthan nothing.

You can also try Binaural Beats in your meditation ritual. This are audio files that give a certain frequency that puts your brain into a certain state. When you listen to these with “earbuds” you can transform your brain frequency much faster than the traditional way of mediation.

Healthy BreakfastMost people know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Depending on your tastes, diets and needs will depend on what you eat so I’m not going to try and tell you what to eat. Personally I try and start the day with some eggs, toast and a coffee.

I’m not one to “need” a coffee in the morning and try and skip days so that I don’t become dependent. Coffee really does help in staying sharp and focused but I feel it is important to let you body go without so you don’t become one of those addicted, where they get headaches if they haven’t had a coffee. Not something you want to have to deal with.

Move your body

Again, this is something very obvious but not many people actually do. I try and get to the gym most mornings after I have some breakfast. I feel that this time of the day is when I am most energised and stops me from being distracted later on. Once I get into the zone with work I don’t want to stop so this prevents me from skipping a gym session as it’s already done.Exercise for success

Some simple ideas:

Go for a walk.

Just a simple, brisk walk around the block will get the blood flow moving.

Pushups, Situps

This is another easy one. As soon as you wake up before you shower, hit the deck and pump out as many pushups as you can. The instant blood flow to your body will give it a huge wake up call and get you into an ideal state for the day.

Don’t take shortcuts.

If you get public transport into work, perhaps get off a bit earlier from your destination so you can walk the rest of the way. If you have stairs in your apartment, or office building, take them rather than getting the lift. Simple changes will really enhance your life without going to huge amounts of effort.

Juice / Blend

Juicing and blending raw vegetables is some amazingly powerful. I try and have one or two juices a week as a bit of a cleanse and detox for my body. You can really notice the difference in your skin and overall health from the nutrients in the vegetables.

I have a blender where its blends in the vegetables and fruits that I put in it, and then I just drink it with the pulp – as I think it’s too good to waste – for a nutritious meal/drink. Many people opt for a juicer which has the same effect except without the pulp.

Inspire your Sub Conscious Motivate and Inspire

I am a huge believe in the power of the mind. Our thoughts do create our reality. Thanks to the internet and in particular my friend Youtube, we have access to pretty much all of the brilliant minds in the world and can access these on a regular basis.

To really get into a peak mental state, I have for a long time watched inspirational and motivation videos or audio to really fire me up.

This is one of the best tips I can give anyone who wants to get more out of there day or to change their life in a positive way.

A simple 5 or 10 minute video clip that hits deep down into your soul, will have your mind, and in particular your powerful subconscious mind, really driving you to your goals and dreams.

Even if you have a 8-5 job that you don’t particularly enjoy, absorbing powerful videos that inspire will have a dramatic effect on how your approach your job, and will also give you the tools to perhaps change your life in a fresh and new direction.

Here’s a inspiration video that will get you going..

I hope some of this tips have got your thinking and you can try and adopt your own morning ritual that gets you into a peak mental state.
